Canine Good Citizen Test During our next event, we are sponsoring the AKC‘s Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) test. This is a cert program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. It is a two-partprogram that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the10-step CGC test receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. The CGC lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and performanceevents. Training will enhance the bond between you and your dog. Dogs who have a solid obedience education are ajoy to live with-they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and otherdogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation, and a high quality life. Some landlords can be talked into accepting a dog if they know yours has passed the CGC. Therapy dogsoften start their training with a CGC certificate, and then advance to more specific therapy dog training.ification—and a Club trophy. Read what the test includes in the latest newsletter.
