Rescue Volunteer

Are you passionate about helping dogs in need and making a meaningful impact in their lives? Consider volunteering with the Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of Greater Tampa Bay’s – Rescue Group.  Our rescue volunteers play a crucial role in saving and improving the lives of Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers who have been neglected, abandoned, or surrendered. With your help, we can continue our mission of providing love, care, and second chances to Wheaten Terriers in need.

Volunteer Opportunities with our Rescue Group:

1. Transportation:

Our rescue group is always in need of volunteers to assist with transportation. Whether it’s picking up a dog from a shelter, driving them to a veterinary appointment, or transporting them to a foster home, transportation volunteers help ensure that dogs in our care reach their destinations safely and on time. If you want to be a Volunteer Driver, please fill out the Rescue Driver Application.

2. Fostering:

Fostering is a rewarding and essential aspect of rescue work. By opening your home to a Wheaten Terrier in need, you provide them with a safe and loving environment where they can heal, thrive, and prepare for their forever home. Fostering also allows us to assess the dog’s temperament and behavior, making it easier to match them with the perfect adoptive family. If you would like to become a foster home, please fill out the Foster Home Application.

3. Surrender Visits and Evaluation:

Volunteers who are skilled in handling and assessing dogs play a vital role in our rescue efforts. Whether it’s conducting surrender visits to assess a dog’s situation or evaluating their behavior and needs, these volunteers help us make informed decisions about placement and care.

4. Shelter Visits:

Shelter visits are an important part of our rescue efforts, allowing us to identify Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers in need of assistance and facilitate their transfer into our care. Volunteers who are comfortable visiting shelters and interacting with staff can help us identify dogs who would benefit from our rescue services.
